The TranquilHive Story

I explore themes of nature and life, expressed through flowers, celebrating the beauty of nature and inviting a sense of connection, contemplation, and joy.

For many years, I’ve run my own communications company, working with international clients. I have also worked for the NHS and the University of Oxford. The work is rewarding, but extremely demanding. It has led me on a path to find a calmer way of being - a way to slow down and rediscover myself amidst the busyness of life and revive my creative practice.

It’s been a journey of growth, learning to accept the passing of time, navigating midlife, and seeking joy, as well as helping others on the same journey. I’m delighted to work as an artist sharing my work with others.

From my studio in Oxford, I create abstract and botanical watercolours and mixed media art, exploring marks, colours and intricate, detailed patterns that blend my maximalist style with my love of magic realism in art. These works are carefully curated to cultivate calm, reflection, and resilience.

I was born in South Africa, and lean into that heritage. I love the history of the UK and I escape into the stories of the middle ages and the Tudors for the ancient woods near our home.

All of these factors leave their tell tale signs in my work.
